Medisim is a company which has for the last seven years worked closely with the
University of Toronto in the development of highly realistic medical teaching models
for use in U of T's Surgical Skills Centre. |

Mr. Barrie is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, a sculptor with specialized knowledge in the fields of human anatomy and physiology, biomedical engineering and silicone chemistry. He has extensive experience in the creation of life-like models for special effects in the movie industry. He is the President of Barrie Technologies, a company which develops and markets the specialized materials which we require. These materials are modified silicones which are stable, non-allergenic, non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-degradable and environmentally inert. With these materials, he can create extremely realistic models which simulate the look, texture, and feel of human skin and underlying tissues.
